Getting in the Florida Keys' blue water for some fun and sightseeing on the coral reef is a "must-do" when you visit our area for a vacation. The Florida Keys offers crystal clear blue water and blue skies.
I'll take you to the coral reef for scuba diving and/or snorkeling adventures. Marathon has the famous Sombrero Coral Reef, a spur and groove reef system, with depths from 8 feet to 25 feet. You can dive or snorkel in the usually calm waters of the Atlantic, with average underwater visibility around 40 feet, often exceeding 60 feet. Also, in the Marathon diving area, we can go to Coffins Patch. Coffins Patch and Sombrero Reef are a "no-touch/no-take" National Marine Sanctuary protected area. While snorkeling or scuba diving, you'll see lots of colorful tropical fish, lobster, schools of fish, nurse sharks, and all kinds of healthy coral, including coral fans. It is common to get to see a turtle swim by or a school of tarpon. Both are breathtaking!
As far as your equipment, bring your own mask, fins, and snorkel - if you are able. But, everything can be rented at our local dive shop.
